Orphan Aid Liberia – Sherry Kerr

Hi. My name is Sherry Kerr and I am the office administrator for The Cooper Firm. In June 2012, my friend and co-worker, Linda Stricker-Campbell, traveled with Orphan Aid Liberia to the bush of Africa to work in an orphanage.

IMG_0395Once we reached the orphanage, Linda and I were part of a mobile eye clinic. (We took training to be certified to do eye exams in third world countries.) Not only did we examine the children at the orphanage but reached out into the neighboring villages to provide glasses to the community surrounding the orphanage. (A pair of glasses can cost a month’s wages.) Each day we did eye clinic in the morning, Vacation Bible School in the afternoon and then returned to the eye clinic before ending our day.

By far the best time was time spent with the beautiful children that live at the orphanage. Orphan Aid Liberia has been at work here since 2008 and it is evident. The children are healthy. The children are clothed and have food. They blessed us with singing and smiles. We held their hands, held them in our laps, and loved them.

There is still much work to be done. Please join us as our own Lance Cooper heads to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro to help rebuild these children “From the Ground Up.” You can visit the website at www.orphanaidliberia.com or www.facebook.com/orphanaidliberia for more information, to become a sponsor or make a one-time donation.
