Any fatal accident is tragic, but few deaths are more terrible than dying from a dog attack. There have been occasions where a missing person was reported, only to find that the missing person has been violently killed by a dog. Unfortunately for one Georgia family, a 4-year-old boy was killed in a fatal accident involving a dog in the boy’s own yard.
The incident happened when his mother went to take a shower, leaving the boy with his great aunt and uncle. In 10 minutes, the boy disappeared. After reporting the boy to the authorities, his family conducted a neighborhood search in the dark.
First, they found the boy’s shirt. Then, they found the boy’s mauled body in front of their house in tall grass. As can be imagined, the family is still reeling from the death of the boy. Nor does knowing that a dog was to blame for the incident gives them any sense of closure.
Currently, while there are no leads yet as to whose dog it was that killed the boy, there is an investigation underway which will hopefully give answers to the grieving family. If and when they find the Georgia owner whose dog killed their son, they may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim so that they can pay for the boy’s final expenses, as well as other damages that result from the fatal accident. In the meantime, they would like to remind owners of vicious dogs that they should keep them away from people and confined in order to prevent a similar tragedy from happening.
