Valukas also said Wednesday that he had tried to contact some of the key plaintiffs attorneys as part of his investigation, but that they did not speak to him. Prominent plaintiffs attorney Lance Cooper, who is credited with exposing GM’s clandestine attempts to fix the ignition switch, confirmed to Law360 on Wednesday that Valukas had contacted him. Cooper said he declined to be interviewed because he thought it would be inappropriate to do so in light of his pending suits against GM.
