Usher’s stepson dies in fatal accident in Georgia

As many Georgia residents already know, the 11-year-old son of famous singer Usher’s ex-wife died after a fatal accident at Lake Lanier. On July 27, he was laid to rest. While his is not the first fatal accident at the lake, the family of the boy is understandably devastated by the incident.

The accident happened when the boy and his friend were on inner tubes that were being pulled by a boat. As they were riding along, a personal watercraft reportedly hit them. While his friend was all right, the boy, who was Usher’s stepson, tragically suffered from severe head injuries. Shortly afterwards, he was declared brain dead. After two weeks on life support, he was removed from the equipment and later died.

The man who had driven the personal watercraft that ended up causing the death of the boy was supposedly a family friend. At the moment, no charges have been filed. So far, police believe that the man was not intoxicated at the time of the incident, although it is unclear exactly what happened.

For the family of the boy, there are no words to describe how devastated they are over the accident and about watching the boy deteriorate in the last couple of weeks of his life. As they mourn his loss, they retain the right to pursue a wrongful death claim in Georgia courts against any party whose negligence caused or contributed to the tragic fatality. This fatal accident, sadly, is the third death at this lake in two months. However, it is hoped that the high publicity of this case will open up Georgia residents’ eyes to the reality that water accidents can happen to anyone.
