This week we provide recall details on a Boy Scouts of America painted uniform piece with high concentration of lead, a defective camping axe sold at Walmart and an expanded airbag recall from Honda.

Boy Scouts of America Neckerchief Slide
The Boy Scouts of American announced a recall of their long-standing neckerchief slides due to high levels of lead. The slides are painted and sold in four styles :red wolf, green bear, orange lion, blue Webelos. This particular recalled batch of about 110,000 were sold February 2018-August 2018 in BSA stores and online. Consumers should immediately stop wearing the slide and return them to the stores for a free replacement. Contact BSA Customer Service at 800-323-0736 for more information.

Ozark Trail Camp Ax
Walmart has issued a recall of approximately 246,000 Ozark Trail camping axes with model number 60111140. According to the manufacturer, the ax head can detach from the handle posing an injury hazard. Walmart has received 2 reports of injuries due to the defect. Ozark Trail asks consumers to immediately stop using the ax and return them to Walmart for a full refund.

PetSmart Reptile Light
PetSmart announce a recall of 23,000 reptile light fixtures this month. The strip light can overheat and pose a fire hazard. PetSmart received 6 reports of the strip light catching on fire, although no injuries occurred. The lights were sold in stores March 2017-July 2018 under the name ‘All Living Things’ reptile strip light fixture and applies to both the 20-inch and the 30-inch units. Consumer are asked to return the item to PetSmart for a refund.

Honda Front Passenger Airbag
Honda added 1.4 million vehicles to their existing Takata airbag recall list. This expansion is to replace the passenger front airbag of 15 different models. The recalls includes multiple Acura and Honda models for years 2010-2015. To date, the Takata airbag defect has affected nearly 50 million vehicles, the largest in US history. Honda states more than 77% of existing recalls on their vehicles have been repaired. Honda will mail recall notices to those affected by the recall. You can also visit www.safercar.gov and enter your VIN for the most up-to-date recall information on your specific vehicle.

Honda Accord and Insight Rear Display Camera
Honda announced another recall of their vehicles this month. This recall covers over 230,000 Accord and Insight models and reports malfunction of the rear-camera display. Honda claims a software glitch to be the main cause of the malfunction where the error ranged from a blank screen when in reverse to a navigation crash when providing turn-by-turn directions. Honda will notify consumers mid-November on how to get the unit reprogrammed. No injuries have been reported to NHTSA at this time.
