Honda Re-Issues Recall for Improperly Installed Takata Airbag

Honda Re-Issues Recall for Improperly Installed Takata Airbag

Honda recently issued another recall for the dangerous Takata airbags. This time, it was due to an improper installation following a previously issued recall. According to the manufacturer, the replaced inflators could still be dangerous.

This recall affects 1.2 million vehicles in North America and covers Honda and Acura vehicles from models years 2001-2016. A January 2019 airbag explosion in a 2004 Honda Odyssey that injured a driver alerted the manufacturer to the issue. The replacement part provided in the previous recall was believed to be safe, but proved otherwise.

The complete list of Honda and Acura models included in the latest recall can be found online here. We also encourage all drivers to check their VIN online with NHTSA to see if any recalls exist on your vehicle. Dealerships will fix your vehicle according to the recall instructions from the manufacturer free of charge and oftentimes will provide a rental should repair take an extended period of time. You will be notified by US Mail when your car is scheduled to be repaired so please be on the lookout and act quickly.
