Great States Recalls Earthwise Lawn Mower Due to Injury Hazard

Great States Corporation is recalling around 1,200 Earthwise cordless electric push lawn mowers due to a defect which can cause injuries. The mower can start when the key is not in the “on” or start position, which could potentially cause injury to user.

The lawn mower has a 17-inch mowing deck with “17” and “Earthwise” printed across the front. The mowers have a silver motor housing and deck with side discharge chute, a black foldable handle and a bright green bail lever, height adjustment lever and handle knobs. The recall affects mowers with the model number 60517, located on the back of the motor cover.  The mowers were sold at Mernard stores, Seventh Avenue catalogs and online at PowerSales.com and SeventhAvenue.com from January to May 2014.

There have been no injuries or accidents reported in the United States, but there have been three incidents in Canada. One of the incidents includes a Canadian who had three fingers amputated due to the defect with the lawn mower.  Consumers should stop using the product immediately and remove the battery.  After removing the battery, consumers should contact Great States Corporation for a replacement mower.  You can contact Great State Corporation at (800) 633-1501 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. eastern Monday through Friday or email sales@reelin.com.
