Many of our cars have occupant detection sensors. The so-called “smart” airbag systems are enclosed in the seat cushion of the front passenger seat and are used to detect whether or not the front passenger seat is occupied by an adult.
Recent reports show that the Hyundai Accent and its model twins, including the Kia Rio, are sometimes defective. Failures in a product like this most often lead serious and fatal injuries.
