Recall Round-up: June 15, 2021

This edition of the recall round-up features product recalls from General Motors, Philips, Volvo, Wild Republic, and Banner Smoked Fish Inc.

  • General Motors                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            General Motors has issued a recall on all full-size SUVs that were redesigned for 2021. 282,429 vehicles have been recalled across the Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC brand names. A full list of the models recalled can be found here. The airbag malfunction light may not illuminate to warn drivers that there could be an issue with airbag deployment in the event of a crash. This recall can be fixed either by an over-the-air software update or by taking the vehicle in to be updated at a dealership.   • Philips                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Royal Philips has recalled its Bi-Level PAP, CPAP, and mechanical ventilator devices following the discovery of health risks with the polyester-bases polyurethane sound abasement foam in the products. The recall is expected to affect 3 to 4 million units. The foam can degrade into small pieces and be inhaled by the user. The foam can be toxic and can have carcinogenic effects.   • Volvo                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Volvo has recalled 85,550 vehicles due to the potential for the low-pressure fuel pump to blow a fuse, that can cause the engine to stall. Volvo states the affected models are as follows, V90, XC60, S60, V60, V60CC, S90, V90CC, S90L, and XC90. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 1, 2021, but owners can call Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552 and use the recall number R10100 for more information.

 

  •  Wild Republic                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Wild Republic has recalled over 460,000 slap watches for choking hazards to young children. These watches have been sold on Amazon.com as well as zoos museums and aquariums from March 2018 to April 2021. Consumers are advised to immediately take the watches away from children and seek a full refund.
