Two Fatalities in Wrong-way Accident on I-85

Wrongful Death on 1-85

Two were killed in a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon on I-85 in south Fulton County due to a wrong way driver. The accident occurred around 3:15 p.m.

The driver, who was driving a small pick-up truck, was heading southbound in the northbound lanes when it collided with a large pick-up truck carrying a trailer. Both vehicles erupted into flames.

The wrong way driver was killed on impact and his passenger died later that evening. The driver of the larger truck remains in critical condition at Grady.

This is the fourth wrong way accident that has occurred in the past two weeks in the Metro Atlanta Area.

Five people were injured on Friday evening when a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lane of Ga. 316 at Winder Highway in Gwinnett County hit an oncoming car head-on. The driver was believed to be under the influence of the sedative Propofol.

Friday morning a 22-year old woman was killed when she hit a car going the wrong way on Ga. 400. Her car hit B98.5 FM morning show co-host Kelly Stevens’ SUV. He suffered several broken bones as a result.

The first incident occurred on August 15 when a man drove south in the northbound lane of Ga. 400 from Lenox Road in Buckhead and hit a car head on. He was killed on impact and the driver of the other car died at Grady Memorial Hospital later that evening.
