Recall Round-Up: June 22, 2018

RECALL ROUND-UP: JUNE 1, 2018

Every week we scour the internet and bring you the latest information on product and automotive recalls in this recurring series: Recall Round-Up.

This week we report on auto recalls for Kia sedans and minivans, Jeep Cherokee, and multiple Ford models plus a product safety recall on a popular aluminum ladder.

  • 2018 Ford F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator

Ford issued a recall for 3 different 2018 model vehicles equipped with a 3.5 liter V-6 engine. These vehicles have a high-pressure fuel pump that may fracture and become misaligned causing the fuel lines to leak and increase the risk of fire. More than 7500 vehicles are included in the recall. Authorized dealers will replace the affected parts at no cost. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov to determine if your vehicle is included.

  • 2018 Jeep Cherokee

To date, Fiat Chrysler has issued 4 separate recalls for the 2018 Jeep Cherokee. At the end of May, FCA began notifying owners of nearly 50,000 2018 Jeep Cherokees that their vehicle may have been manufactured with a faulty fuel tube that may leak and increase the risk of fire. These vehicles have a 2.4L engine. Owners can contact FCA at 1-800-853-1403 and mention recall U39 for more information.

  • Kia Forte, Optima and Sedona

Kia recalled more than 500,000 sedans and minivans after a NHTSA investigation determined the vehicles were equipped with a faulty airbag sensor that could prevent an airbag from properly deploying in the event of a front collision. NHTSA received 6 reports where the airbag failed to deploy resulting crashes where 4 people died and 6 people injured. The following vehicles are included: 2010-2013 Kia Fortes, 2010-2013 Kia Forte Coups, 2011-2013 Kia Optimas, 2011-2012 Kia Optima Hybrids, and 2011-2012 Kia Sedona minivans. Recalls are expected to begin July 27, 2018

  • Werner Aluminum Ladders

If you recently purchased a Werner aluminum ladder ranging 13-26 feet from Lowe’s or Home Depot, the manufacturer urges you to stop using the ladder immediately and return to the store for a complete refund. Werner Co received a report of one ladder breaking during use and issued an immediate recall of 78,000 units. Visit the CPSC.gov website for more details on this recall.
