GM and Ford Recall Nearly 4 million Vehicles
General Motors announced a recall over 3.46 million pickup trucks and SUVs due to a potential braking hazard. According to the manufacturer, the vehicles have a faulty vacuum pump issue that affects the ability for a driver to properly brake. They have received reports of 113 accidents and 13 injuries. Included in the recall are 2014-2018 model years for the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Sierra and GMC Yukon. Authorized dealers will reprogram the electronic brake control module which should assist with the function of the vacuum pump.
Ford recalled over 480,000 pickup trucks and SUVs due to improperly assembled seatbacks that may not work properly in the event of a crash. These driver and passenger seatback mechanism affect the seats’ ability to recline and may increase the risk of the occupants being injured should a crash occur. The vehicles included in the recall are certain 2018-2020 Ford F-150s, 2019-2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks, 2018-2020 Ford Explorers, and 2019-2020 Ford Expeditions. The manufacturer has limited to the recall to specific assembly plants.
