Several People Injured in a Georgia Car Accident

An evening crash has left several people injured. The Georgia car accident involved two vehicles and resulted in serious injuries to the 8-year-old passenger in one of the cars. Police have said there are charges pending in this case.

Just before 9 p.m., a car driving down the road made a left hand turn. That turn resulted in the car colliding with an SUV. There were three passengers in each vehicle. The 8-year-old who was seriously injured was in the SUV.

In all, six people were injured. The SUV apparently had its lights off at the time of the collision. The driver of that vehicle was a 17-year-old. While charges are pending, though further details were not provided.

As Georgia authorities continue with their investigation, they will likely focus on the actions of the parties leading up to the car accident. The preliminary information suggests that the SUV driver may have been negligent in not engaging her vehicle lights prior to the 8:40 p.m. crash. Those injured in the accident have rights under our personal injury laws regardless of what criminal charges or motor vehicle citations are issued. If it can be documented that a victim’s injuries were caused by the negligence of another party to the collision, claims for monetary damages that followed will be adjudicated through the Georgia civil court system. A successfully litigated personal injury lawsuit could result in reimbursement of the medical costs and related expenses, as well as other damages permissible under the laws of our state.
