Two more lives claimed by Georgia lakes

Two more lives were claimed Monday in swimming accidents on Lake Lanier and Tallulah Falls Lake in Georgia.

One of the victims, Spencer Obe Dye, 25, got in trouble while swimming with a friend in the Bolling Mill area of Lake Lanier. His friend pulled him from the water and began CPR but was not successful. Dye was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m.

The second incident occurred in the Tallulah Falls Lake when a 17-year-old male, who is suspected of drowning, went missing around 5:30 p.m. His body was recovered by Towns County divers in 15 foot deep water about 20 feet from the shore two hours later.

Tallulah Falls is about 96 miles northeast of Atlanta near the South Carolina state line.

According to DNR, 49 people died in drownings in lakes around the state last year.
