Georgia Police Arrest Suspect in Hit and Run Car Accident

Auto Recall-Crash

Whenever someone hits a pedestrian and then leaves the scene of an accident, police typically make every effort to find that driver as leaving the scene of a car accident is typically against the law in Georgia. Leaving the scene may also lead to more serious injuries or even death for an injured pedestrian because necessary medical care may be delayed. A Georgia man remains hospitalized as he tries to recover from injuries he sustained in a hit and run car accident.

The 33-year-old was hit by a pickup truck on a Friday night. He is still hospitalized but reports indicate that the victim is expected to live. The driver took off, and police turned to the media to garner tips to find whoever was responsible.

A 50-year-old man turned himself in to authorities. He was subsequently booked for the accident and held at a county jail. He has been charged with failing to report the accident and also felony hit and run.

Any time someone has been hit alongside the road and left without medical care, they may be able to pursue a civil suit against the driver who left them there. In some situations, the driver may be found negligent and may be obligated to pay monetary damages to the injured person or their family. Monetary damages awarded in a Georgia civil court may help people deal with financial obligations that result from a car accident, such as medical bills, lost wages, physical therapy or even funeral costs if a life has been lost.
