Driver Arrested After Georgia Car Accident Injured Passengers
Any time someone is the passenger in a car, that person is essentially putting their life in the hands of the driver. If that driver is impaired by drugs or alcohol, the chance of that passenger or anyone else on the roadway getting injured can be greatly increased. Recently, a Georgia car accident occurred where the driver that is allegedly at fault may have been under the influence at the time of the crash.
The crash happened as the 20-year-old male driver was heading down the road in a Ford Explorer. The vehicle hit a mail box then it swerved to the other side of the road and ended up hitting an embankment. The actual crash is still under investigation.
The driver was not injured. However, his passenger was. She had to be transported by air to a hospital where her injuries were reported to be serious. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with injury by vehicle, failure to stay in his lane and DUI.
While it is unclear what the extent of the passenger’s injuries may be, she may end up with a staggering amount of medical bills, lost wages or even mounting physical therapy or long term care bills. She or her family may be able to file a claim in a Georgia civil court and seek damages against the driver who caused the car accident. Any awarded damages may help alleviate any of the financial strain the accident may cause for her or her family.
