One of the worst things that a parent can ever imagine is to get a phone call from the police informing them that their child has been involved in a car accident. Even when the child has grown and is a legal adult, albeit a young one, every parent who has to listen to such call is hit by a sense of fear when they hear the news. Unfortunately for several in Marietta, that nightmare became an unfortunate reality after a devastating car accident left one dead and four injured.
The accident happened when a 21-year-old driver of a Honda Accord drifted out of his lane. Unfortunately, this put him in the path of a BMW coming in the opposite direction. The two cars collided.
The driver of the Accord died immediately. His two passengers, a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. The woman sustained serious injuries, whereas the man’s injuries were initially described as non-life threatening. As far as the other vehicle, both the driver and his child passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Right now, it is not known why the driver drifted into the other lane, and police are currently investigating. In the meantime, the car accident, in which all the passengers were from Marietta, has likely shaken up the community, especially for the family and friends of the victims who are likely grasping for answers. As the investigation continues, it is hoped that those who were injured will speedily recover from their injuries. It is as yet unknown what, if any, civil claims for personal injury or wrongful death will result from the tragedy.
