Victims of Defective G.M. Ignition Switches Begin Filing Claims – New York Times
By Bill Vlasic
Lance Cooper, a lawyer in Georgia who represents multiple victims, said his clients would take time to fill out the forms appropriately and provide supporting evidence. The documents needed to support a claim range from proof that the vehicle was included in the initial switch recalls to police reports and other accident information. The 13-page claim form for deceased victims, for example, also asks for details about the victim’s job history, including income.
“We will be filing a number of claims within the next week,” Mr. Cooper said on Friday. “We are still figuring out what we should submit and how it should be submitted.”
